A PhD Candidate studying Politics, Alex Galindo (they/them) interrogates the complex ties linking culture and socio-economic injustice. Conducted in the context of American politics, Alex asks how our culture shapes who we are, what we believe, and the power dynamics we operate under (and invest in) within a single political landscape. Their current research examines how social media is changing engagement with local politics in California.
Interdisciplinary in nature, Alex’s research lineage is shaped most notably by critical theorists across sociology, political science, and psychology. Integral to their approach is the belief that social truths can be found just as effectively in non-academic sources as in academia. Consequently, you can find Alex engaging with works of non-fiction, podcasts, and film for sources of inspiration and/or manuals in conveying affect.
